It was absolutely fantastic. I was a week late getting there due to flight disruptions because of volcanic activity, so i emailed Neil at Frontier to let them know which he did so I didn't worry that they weren't kept informed.

I really enjoyed it! The family was lovely, very warm and welcoming and they made me feel right at home and the food they prepared was superb and I never went hungry once. They were generous and full of funny stories and jokes. They were knowledgeable about their work and really focussed on saving rare wallabies and wombats.

They took us to the croc farm which was amazing and to the Rockhampton Show which was fun and also bought me some stuff I needed from the supermarket. They really work hard at what they do and try their best to accommodate volunteers. Even ones who don't eat onions!

We worked for a couple of hours in the morning picking up wallaby poop which could give you a bit of backache, but then the rest of the day was spent sunbathing or reading or walking. Every three days we cut up sweet potato for the wallaby feed. In the afternoons we sat in a circle with three baby wombats which we were allowed to pat because they needed to get used to humans so they could be taken to schools to help educate children about wombat conservation. They had the softest fur!

I would recommend it to anyone, it was great and I have some lovely pictures and memories. I will keep in touch with them for a long while yet and feel I have made some great friends.
