Hello All,

We have just come to the end of our first week in Tanzania. After Sunday night in Dar es Salam we caught a flight over to Mafia Island and settled in on camp. There are 16 of us including staff, 1 adventurer, 3 teachers and 7 marine. For the first few days we got to know the local area which is absolutely beautiful. We are two minutes away from the beach and our camp is situated in a village of lovely friendly people. Whilst the divers were exploring the bay and finishing their PADI Open Water the teachers started to plan their lessons.

The highlight of the week was definitely Saturday morning when the group took a boat out to see whale sharks. We managed to see three. I am really looking forward to the rest of my time here on Mafia.

Sophie Rose.
