The taxi-brousse journey to camp was an enjoyable experience and more comfortable than expected. The walk into camp was a great introduction to life here and gave us an opportunity to speak some basic Malagasy with the locals. Camp was not what we expected, it was much better! The wildlife here is fantastic with a great variety of birds which we have already begun to learn to identify by call and sight. A family of sanford’s brown lemurs have been leaping through the canopy above camp offering amazing viewings. Our fist weekend we were invited to watch a local festival which included zebu (local breed of cattle) wrestling; a Malagasy version of a rodeo! The whole village turned up for the occasion from babies to grandmas. All in all the first few days have been very memorable.
