QUALIFICATIONS

A variety of qualifications are available on many of our projects. For example, BTEC certificates and diplomas on our Group conservation projects and TEFL certificates and BTECs on most of our teaching projects. For more information on these qualifications, please see the qualifications section of our website or ask your volunteer advisor.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

Your exciting work day will begin at 8am. Teaching various classes, you'll get to interact with a wide range of children and teachers. School finishes at 2:30, giving you the evenings to enjoy with your friends, wandering the lovely tree-lined streets and exploring the tremendous natural beauty of the surrounding area.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I ARRIVE?

You will be greeted at the airport in Douala by a friendly Frontier representative. You will travel the 134 mile journey to your project location in Bamenda in the North West Province using the safe and reliable bus service.

WHERE WILL I BE STAYING?

Accommodation will be in a clean, comfortable hostel or with a local host depending on your preference and the availability. Single-sex dorms are much like those that you'd find in Europe, with electricity and running water. The bedrooms contain a bed (with a sheet, blanket, and pillow) and a table/desk. The hostel also has a shared kitchen and dining area. There is a shower room for each bedroom and a shared toilet.

WHAT WILL I BE EATING?

You will be offered two meals (breakfast and dinner) a day. Your diet will consist of fresh locally available food, including vegetables, fruits, rice, meat, fish, corn, plantains, bananas and occasionally some western style dishes.

HOW WILL I GET TO WORK?

Your accommodation will be located within 1.5 kilometres from your school, an easy walking distance.
