What does the project do?

Explore Bangkok’s temples and night life, wake up in the jungle on our floating raft houses, cuddle cheeky baby monkeys, snorkel in crystal clear water, follow Leo’s foot steps on THE BEACH, watch incredible fire shows & party the night away on Koh Phangan.

What will I be doing?

Day 1-3: Buzz of Bangkok

You’ll be picked up from the airport and taken to your hotel near Khao San Road. Later in the evening you will meet your guide and group for a welcome dinner. After your first taste of Thailand, you'll explore some of Bangkok's nightlife.

The next day, your city tour begins with a boat trip through Bangkok’s busy rivers and canals. Your guide will explain about Bangkok’s history, religion and culture. Explore the Temple of Dawn ‘Wat Arun’, Reclining Buddha Temple ‘Wat Pho’ and the shopping mall and markets.

After a lie in the next morning,  head to the markets for some shopping before jumping on the overnight sleeper train.

Day 4-5: Khao Sok National Park

Travel on a longtail boat to floating raft houses hidden deep in the rainforest of the Khao Sok National Park. See amazing animals, breathtaking scenery and learn about the history of the area. Enjoy a swim, kayak on the lake or just chill on deck. That evening, after a tasty dinner with fish caught fresh on the lake, cruise around the lake to spot hornbills and other nocturnal wild animals.

Wake up in your bamboo rafthouse to the sound of monkeys in the treetops. After breakfast, take another dip before getting back on the longtail boat to your next stop, Khao Sok Jungle Village. Relax at the Jungle Village, where you’ll have the option to go river tubing (depending on the season). That evening head to a Thai Reggae Bar for dinner.

Day 6-7: Koh Phi Phi

Today you will travel to Krabi, where you will catch a ferry to Koh Phi Phi, home of ‘The Beach’, for two nights of tropical island fun! You will have some time to relax before meeting at a beach bar for dinner, drinks and music on the beach as the sun goes down. Watch beach fireshows and explore the awesome nightlife of Koh Phi Phi.

The next day, sleep in or go for a swim before  a longtail boat tour of the Phi Phi Islands, to explore Maya Bay ‘The Beach’ and Monkey Bay. You will stop for some snorkelling and see loads of amazing fish on the limestone reefs. That night you can party at a beach club!

Day 8-10: Koh Phangan

You will leave Phi Phi and head over to Koh Phangan, home of the world-famous Full Moon Party.  You’ll be staying right near the ocean, with crystal clear water and amazing sunsets. Relax and slurp cocktails as the sun goes down.

Your second day here is free  to relax on the beach or explore Koh Phangan. Soak up some sun, swim on the beach, go kayaking or snorkelling. Get launched into the air at WipeOut or go for a stroll through the town – there is heaps to do on Koh Phangan! Your group leader will help to arrange everything. That evening enjoy more drinks and a night of fun!

Use the last day of the tour to plan the rest of your adventure in Thailand. Your group leader will help you arrange anything you need. That evening meet up for a farewell dinner and party on the beach.

Day 11: Koh Phangan

You will be met at Bangkok airport and taken directly to your accommodation near to Khao San Road.

Throughout the tour you will be staying in shared hostel accommodation.

The tour includes a welcome dinner in Bangkok and all meals on your raft stay in Khao Sok. This gives you the opportunity to go out with others from the group and sample local Thai cuisine. Thai is one of the world's most exciting cuisines, and if you're willing to experiment, you'll be richly rewarded. Contrary to popular belief, not all Thai food is fiery hot and there are plenty of tasty dishes suited to the Western palate. This hybrid cuisine has been influenced by soups and noodle dishes from China, curries from India and satays from Indonesia. Most dishes incorporate four elements, sweet, sour, salty and hot flavours, and many of the dishes are rice or noodle based.

Please note that your visa will usually start on the date that you enter the destination country regardless of when it was issued. Please check with the relevant embassy or high commission. You'll need to buy appropriate travel insurance covering your participation on the project. You won't be able to go without the right travel insurance so double check to avoid disappointment. Please make sure that you're covered for the whole duration of your trip – from the day you leave the UK to the day you return. It's also best to get your travel insurance at the same time as paying the deposit for your project. Depending on your policy, this will cover you for any unexpected cancellations.

Your insurance should include the following:

  • Medical cover, including medical emergencies and medical evacuations (up to USD$3,000,000 / GBP£2,000,000);
  • Personal liability (up to USD$1,500,000 / GBP£1,000,000);
  • Cancellation and curtailment of your trip (up to the value of your project contribution).

If you are going to be scuba diving you should get coverage for scuba diving up to 30m, including hyperbaric therapy treatment (unlimited). You should consider obtaining insurance to cover you for any additional activities which you plan to do during, before, or after your Frontier project. We recommend that you obtain cover for your baggage and personal effects.

Frontier Partner Projects and Frontier group projects are run in partnership with in-country NGOs, small community based organisations, local research institutes, academic organisations and conservation agencies. Project descriptions and information are supplied directly by our partners or field staff and are accurate at time of publishing.

We aim to keep information up to date and accurate, however, the nature of our projects and in particular the fact that they are constantly evolving and developing in response to changing needs means that project activities, travel schedules, tour itineraries and daily timetables can change overnight and without notice.
